X's for eyes? Really? Doesn't that mean it's a dead clown? The choices, happy dead clown, or sad dead clown. Either way, youngsters get to stuff their nightclothes into its body cavity. Disturbing and creative.

jeez, she looks happy to have that dead clown in her arms, doesn't she? Does it have anything to do with the way it clashes so with the bedspread and wallpaper? It's just horror piled on horror. Maybe she's a he and has to wear a frilly white dress - that would certainly be enough for the serial murderers I know!

Maybe I'm being optimistic here, but maybe the very floppy clown hat is so that the little androgynous child in the christening gown (why is s/he wearing a christening gown, anyway?) cannot see the scary, scary face while they're trying to go to sleep and not think about the monster under the bed, in the closet, behind the floppy hat, outside the window, (insert phraseology for whereever scary bedtime monsters hang out)..

It's Penny Wise the Clown from "It". But, seriously, I always thought that X's for eyes meant that someone had waaay too much to drink. Ha. Either way, very scary looking clown...I like it!! And, I did have a pajama bag when I was a child. No, not a clown but, a panda bear. I have no clue as to why. My son now has it hanging in his bedroom. Again, no clue!

Oh, my gawd, I think my mother sewed that clown for me when I was really little! Except instead of the feet there, she'd used baby's sneaker shoes, so I'd so-cleverly dubbed him "Sneaky."
Of course after "Poltergeist" came out, the name Sneaky took on an all new meaning and the thing was immediately banished.
Wow, nice to end my day with horrific childhood flashbacks... Next I can watch that 70s made-for-TV film about the creatures that lived in the fireplace and terrorized that housewife named Sally...

I had a pajama holder!! I think it was a cat or a clown. Can't remember. I'd stuff my jammies into it in the am, then by bedtime, I'd forgotten what I'd done and fetched a new pair.
I don't think it's JUST a pajama holder. I think it's also a portal for some other more alarming destination than this one. And the little girl (boy?) has been there and returned. What else aside from dimension-jumping could explain the glazed look??

My mother made one of these clowns for me.
One day I got it very dirty and she washed
it and hung it on a line in our back yard,
(in the late 50's people dryed their clothes
outside on lines made of wire or nylon).
Anyway I forgot to bring it in when it dryed.Now here is the funny part of this
story.My two older sisters had gone to a movie.
By the time they came out it was dark and as
they had done many times before,came through
the backyard.Where they saw what they thought
was a man hanging by his feet.Well they started
screaming and tried to run to the house.One sister
paralyized in fear had fallen to the ground and
was unable to move and the other sister was trying
to get her to her feet and was only dragging her.
Mean while my parents,brothers and me ran outside
to see what all the screaming was about.WE see the
two girls,we all run to them,their still screaming,
saying something about a man hanging my his feet
on the clothsline.Boy did I know I was in trouble.
To this day when that story is told they still don't
think it's funny and my sisters and I are in our 60's
and 70's now.

Yeah, I remember that one... little gremlins living in the fireplace, a stone fireplace I think it was. Very creepy...
